My faithful LaCie d2 drive has recently started behaving unfaithfully. Here's the situation:
When I first turn on my computer (the drive normally starts automatically without having to be switched on), or when I first connect the drive through firewire, it seems to have trouble getting started. It spins up for a second, then back down. It continues doing this for a while, then stops all together without mounting. If I shut it down and leave it connected for a while (about 10 mins) and then turn it on again, it starts to work fine.
Any ideas what might be up? I've used it with several different computers and it does the same thing.

Thanks in advance.

sounds like it's dead/dying.

hope it's just bad luck, I ordered one yesterday

hope it's still under warranty, good luck

That said, I wouldn't worry too much about yours- mine's lasted quite a while.
