I have a seagate 250gb HD hooked up to my iMac G5 with a firewire enclosure. Everything has been working for the past month, but now whenever I try to take something off the HD or put something on it...I get an error!

error-
"The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in '(whatever file)' could not be read or written" (error code -36)

-this happens whenever i try to transfer a file to or from the HD.

I tried repairing permissions with disk utility, and it says everthing is fine. Other times it says it can't because the HD could not be unmounted.

I don't know if i have a bad file that corrupted this HD or what. I would just erase the whole thing, but i have valuble home videos on it that i can't just delete, and it wont let me transfer them off without giving me this error.
