...I've got an 80gig Hitachi ATA/IDE 4200RMP 2.5 inch Hard drive from an older Mac laptop and I want to connect it to my shiny new MacBook Pro for Time Machine. When I hook it up nothing happens. The HD starts up and spins just fine but thats it. Leopard just doesn't see it. and Disk utility doesn't either. Im on to my second enclosure too so im thinking its the HD but it worked fine in the last computer. Any ideas?
thanks. Oh and whats weird about this is that System Profiler DOES see it plugged into the USB and gives this information.

USB TO IDE:

Version: 0.33
Bus Power (mA): 500
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
Product ID: 0x0702
Vendor ID: 0x05e3
thanks for the help.
~Lukas,

the last one I've tried is a KC (kings collection) and gets power from a second USB input. it spins and starts up normally. I've recently tried it on a P.C and the same thing happened. WIndows saw it when I plugged it in. but nothing else.
I think its the HD.
