External HD to External HD

I guess for some reason I am not understanding this at all. I have a HD that's formatted for Mac OS Extended (Journaled) so my other HD I did the same format. I keep getting an Error Code -36 anytime I try to copy a file from HD A to HD B even though they are both the same format. Earlier I was getting issues of not being able to transfer files over 4gb because I did the FAT format so I erased the drive and now it's this issue. Any idea's / solutions.

Have you checked the partition map scheme and format and verified the disk via Disk Utility?
