For back up your computer, which is safer/better? I know you are supposed to ? Buy new external HD every three to five years but what about USB flash memory ? I underhand external HD offers much more space, but was wondering if I should just go with USB flash memory for backing up my computer instead of external HD..

Are you talking about USB flash memory like a USB key? Those usually use very cheap NAND chips that have low write cycle ratings and don't hold up well for heavy usage like backups. There are some newer USB keys that are better about this, but they tend to be expensive.

IMO you are better off with a cheap external USB3 hard drive for backups.

yes, those little guys you can just put it in your pocket. I like it for its portability, and I know there are 32 gb, more etc..... which is enough storage space for me (storing music, photos, documents) for now.... USB3 HD like WD ? Those are nice with 1TB, 2TB, etc but bit bulky I thought.....
