I was wondering if theres an external similar to the Mypassport that runs firewire 400 or 800?

Oh sweet, Im really digging that passport as I have had really good luck with my myBook and current Passport. Plus I can keep the same general scheme going with it. Stupid question but why is there a mac specific hard drive?

There's no such thing, it's just a stupid marketing ploy. You can reformat it when you get it to whatever you want.

Not entirely true. There are some firewire controllers that work with Windows but don't work with Macs because the vendors cheap-out on components. The drives from the Big Names generally work with Macs, but avoid the No Names.

Just to expound on everyone else a little bit, the drive is pre-formatted for HFS+ which Windows cannot read without some extra software so it is kind of mac specific for that reason, but like was said earlier the drive can be reformatted.
