Hello,

I purchased a new external HD and i like to use the old one (which was used by time machine) on my (Windows) laptop but it would not show up. Is there anyway i can format the HD in Mac?!

Thanks,
Yizi

Just open Disk Utility (Located in Applications>Utilities) select the drive, and erase it, formatting it in MS-DOS (FAT32) Format. You can also reformat the drive via the AdminTools on XP or Vista.

Hi,

Go to the applications folder, then onto the utilities folder within that. Then open the application called disk utility, it should show up.
Then go to the erase tab, change the volume type and then click erase.

Even in Windows under Control Panel>Admin Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management you should be able to see the physical drive and format it.
