Any suggestions for an external HD that is cost efficient to use with time machine? I don't have need for a large storage capability. Thanks for any suggestions/advice.

I use a Western Digital 1TB external HD and have backups on using Time Machine as well as Caron Copy Cloner (I have about 5 partitions on the HD for different machine backups) and I haven't had any issues yet in the past year or so since I got it.

As above any western digital is good. To be honest if you aren't worried about speed just get the cheapest with the most GB's you can. Any hard drive will be Mac compatible.

I had a spare 250GB HDD, and I got an external enclosure for $40 off NewEgg. That's connected to my PS3 now, and I got a 500GB Maxtor OneTouch (USB/FW400) from Staples today for less than $100.

(To all the people who say FW > ALL, I'm not seeing a speed difference between FW400 and USB, like at all)
