Please disregard/delete this post, i decided to hook this up to an IDE slot on an old motherboard i had, turns out the drive had failed.

Hello guys!

I found an old external HDD lying around my house, seems it belonged to my mother, who said it was in perfect working condition when she used it, its a 320GB Western Digital My Book.

Seems it was erased when last used, so i tried to format it, and it fails, no matter what format i use, i get this error:

Disk Erase failed with the error:

File system formatter failed

I have tried suggestions i've seen like "Try 2 or more partitions and select GUID as the partition table" no dice. I have tried them all. I dont think the drive itself is faulty, anyone got any suggestions?
