External HDD folders exist but files disappeared

I'm having trouble with an external harddrive I have. I can see every folder and the drive shows up as full. But when I open the folders they're empty. I can't copy files to the disk either nor can I repair permissions on it because it gives me the error that it can't unmount it.
I just want to get this whole harddrive to another one but carbon copy cloned or super duper wont let me do it.

For anybody who is having this problem with WD drives I installed WD+Turbo and now everything works again
