External HDD Format

I formated a hdd for time machine. I selected OSX Journald. I am on my second day of time machine copying my hdd to the new usb 750 passport drive. Did I select the wrong format?? It is so slow. I upgraded my internal drive in my Imac form 250 gig to 500 gig, so I needed to change external drive. in

No, that's the right format. It takes longer to do the initial backup. Subsequent backups will be much faster.

Perhaps my system was not as bloated on the old drive, but as long as I continue to work it's OK
