Hi,

I use a 4TB USB3 external HDD as my main disk, all my files are there, and sometimes it disconnects by itself.

I had a USB3 cable extension and I thought that could be the problem, so I removed it. I think it's better now, but sometimes I get the message saying the disk was removed incorrectly.

Can you guys help me here? Maybe if I upgrade my OSX there would be a difference?

Thanks

Try a different cable.
Try a different USB port.
Make sure you have UNchecked "put hard disks to sleep when possible" in the Energy Saver preference pane.

Sometimes I think it's just some kind of incompatibility between the controller chip on the USB drive and the Mac OS or Mac hardware. I've seen this myself with a few drives.

In that case, the way to get better "connectability" is to change to a different drive... (sigh)
