It used to be that when I ejected USB hard drives in the Finder that the Mac spins down the drive motor (just like Windows does). But I recently noticed that this is not the case anymore, both a WD My Book and a cheap USB 2.5" SATA enclosure spin down and spin right back up when ejected.

Anyone know how to fix this? I don't like unplugging them when they're still spinning, that just triggers an emergency park in the hard drive.

Seems that Amphetamine (even though Drive Alive is disabled) is the culprit. Uninstalled it, now the drives spin down like they should.
