external HDD > stream wirelessly?

I googled but could only find years old links.

I would love to stream my movies which I have stored on my external HDD (USB2 & FW 800) wireless to my MacBook Pro.

What is the cheapest most straight forward option and is there a FW 800 solution in case I want to daisy chain several FW 800 HDDs.
