External HDD usb 3, metal/non metal?

Hi Guys
just got a MBP for travel
now looking at external hdd's for backup and one for storing images
been looking at our local stores for WD 1 and 2 TB,
What I have noticed is that the only difference is price?
The metal ones are about 50% cheaper but cannot see any spec differences?

Which is best? Non-metal or metal?

I can't imagine the external case making a difference one way or another, unless you're exceptionally hard on the thing (tossing it around in your backpack, etc.). USB drives are pretty much commodities at this point, get enough storage for what you need and the rest is secondary.

You have to look at the speed of hard drive inside the case!

Metal is good for cooling.

Differences include the drive size and speed and the controller. If you get a 'fast' variant it will cost a lot more than a standard one limited to under 200MB/s.
