Hey!
I am going to buy an external HDD, but first need some help. I am converting videos to Xvid on my PC, to put on my portable media player. Now, as this media player has 30gb, and I would like to put more videos on it than it will hold, I was thinking of putting all the movies on the external HDD, and then switching them around when I go on holiday using my macbook, If I want to watch one that is not already on the player. Now, is it possible to use an external hdd (read/write) on a mac and on a pc?

The drive may actually come in FAT32 (all of my drives have)

If the drive is not in FAT32 then you will have to format the drive.

You can do this in Disk Utility in OS X.

Or if you are going to do this in windows you need to install some 3rd party software as XP (by desgin) can not format a drive in FAT32 larger than 32GB.
