I have had a LaCie external hard drive since Panther was out and am having problems with its "classification", if you will, in Tiger.

In Panther, the LaCie disk was considered a hard drive, and using the "Sort by: Kind" option in the view options for the Desktop kept the partitions and CDs/DVDs separated. In Tiger, it appears that a quirk, somewhere, is causing the drive's partitions to be considered CDs/DVDs (which also messes up the "Sort by: Kind" feature).

I've already tried deleting the Finder's plist and looking through Apple's KB articles. Any ideas as to what's going on or what I should be deleting?

You could try running repair permissions. Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility

Which drive should I run it on? Or all of them?

I think you can only verify/repair permissions on a volume/HD that has OS X installed on it. I just checked Disk Utility and the permission buttons were grayed out on my LaCie external HD. So do it on the main start up HD.

Repairing permissions didn't help. tech4all: Does the sorting work as expected with your drive?
