Yeah, photobooth works pretty seamlessly on a powerpc mac. I feel like some features don't work as well with the external isight (colored pencil, glow) , but it's otherwise very cool.

In regards to other snapshot apps... i just use the video preview in ichat and press command-alt-S. very simple, very nice.

I believe that the iSight built into the iMacs and the MacBook Pros is running on a internal Firewire 400 bus anyway, so it probably wont be able to tell the damn difference in the first place.

That's not "the" Apple Photo Booth.

Okay, I'll give you that I am totally unable to read :p

There's a whole world of imaging apps on apple.com that -among other things - do snaps from an iSight. I got waaaay too excited when I found them right under my nose!

When they opened up the intel imacs DIdnt they discover that the internal isights ran on and internal USB bus?

Ive read the somewhere too, but it works great with an isight, it even works with my digital camcorder hooked up via FW.

how did you get it. I would really love to have it for my ibook g4.
Find someone who has a built-in iSight. PhotoBooth only comes bundled on these machines. Then just copy it across.

I really don't understand why Apple didn't make this little app available to everyone. I mean it's simple enough for them to lock it down so it could only be used with iSights.
