I recently moved my iTunes media to an external drive and I left the library files in place on my internal drive. Everything has been working fine. My problem has been w/ adding new music. I have the external plugged in and I dropped a folder full of music into iTunes. It seemed to be loading all of the songs into iTunes. Once finished, I consolidated the library. This is where my problem is. The music was copied to my external & organized w/ the rest of my music like it should be, but it's nowhere tone found when I browse through iTunes. My library appears unchanged, but the music is on my external and was put there by iTunes. I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

I have an older Mac Book Pro from about 2-3 yrs ago running Snow Leopard. Everything is up to date & I am also using iTunes 10.
