External keyboard all of a sudden not working?

Hello all,

I just got a converter for my keyboard and I hooked it in today and it worked, ubhooked it to put my printer USB in, so I unplugged the printer, plugged in the keboard and it doesn't work. I went into system settings and tried to verify it, but it just stays on the first step. What should I do?
