I have a Microsoft Wireless 6000 v2 external keyboard. I have installed the Intellitype software and in the past I have had this setup working great! The problem I'm now facing is that somewhere during my latest reinstall of Leopard (hard drive crashed), my setup procedure for the external keyboard got messed up. I plugged the keyboard in first, it asked me to identify the layout of the keyboard, which I did, and then I installed the MS software. However, none of the special buttons are being recognized by the software. What is weird is that if I go to the Keyboard & Mouse pref pane, I see 3 options now (instead of the typical two): "Apple internal...", "Keyboard", and "MS Wireless Desktop Receiver". What is also weird is that if I click on "Change Keyboard" at the bottom and have it try to identify the external KB's layout, every time I push the keys it complains that I pushed a key on the internal Apple keyboard on the Macbook. These things lead me to believe that the hardware mapping is messed up and Leopard thinks my external KB is my internal KB and thus the MS software is not receiving any of the button signals.
So my question is obviously "how do I fix this?" I think resetting the recognized keyboard list in Leopard would do it - but I don't know where that is. I've tried resetting the PRAM, which had no effect, and I've reinstalled the software multiple times, etc. I've done a safe boot (which is supposed to clear hardware caches) - no luck. I've help the power button in for 5 seconds on startup to get that ugly noise - this is supposed to clear recognized devices ... and so on. I'm about to take it to the genius bar, but typically people around here are more genius than they are. So here I am.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Kirik
