Hi,
I have an old PS/2 mechanical keyboard (PC) that I like to use, but it isn't working on my 2010 MBP when connected via a PS/2 to USB convertor. I did a bit of googling & a series of experiments to figure out the problem, but I am no closer to a satisfactory solution. Here are my observations:
1. If I connect the keyboard to a USB port on my MBP, the caps, num & scroll lock keys illimunate for a second & go out, but the keyboard does not respond subsequently. I can see the "Change Keyboard Type" button in System Preferences, but the wizard fails to detect my key presses. System Information shows a "Generic USB Keyboard" in the USB Device Tree (current available - 500mA, current required - 100mA)
2. I have Windows 7 installed on my MBP as well. The keyboard works perfectly there.
3. If I keep the keyboard plugged in & reboot, the keyboard works in the rEFIt menu normally. If I boot into Mac OS, the keyboard continues to work at the login prompt as well. However, post login, the behaviour is kinda erratic, and sometimes it works for hours together, and sometimes stops working after a few minutes.
4. Whenever I plug the keyboard in or out of a USB port, I see the following line appear in my system log:
Jul 27 04:55:11 xxx kernel[0]: No interval found for . Using 8000000
I am presently on Mountain Lion, and had the exact same behaviour with Lion.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Ramit
