I keep my media on external drives. I have two LaCie Little Big Disks (1tb and 2tb, respectively). I seem to have two options and I was curious which those on the forum would choose.

1. Put all the media on the 1tb drive (400GB right now and climbing) and back it and my MBP up using time machine on the 2tb as a Raid 0.

2. Use the 1tb drive to back up my laptop. Put all of my media on the 2tb drive as a Raid 1.

Both methods provide me with a spare copy of the media. Are there any advantages or disadvantages or either method to consider?

#2 does not give you protection. RAID is not backup. #1 is vastly superior.

Good point about RAID 1 not being a backup. I was thinking that the redundancy would protect me against a single drive failure.
