External mic no sound?

Hi Guys, i am trying to use an external mic with Logic 9 to record vocals but there is no sound from it at all, just the Macs own internal mic. I have tried different settings but still nothing, am i doing something wrong or is there some other hardware i need? any help would be appreciated. Thanx

Have you changed the audio input in System Preferences? Does the mic even show up there?

Im not sure, there is 2 things there the internal mic and the line in when i switch to the line in no sound at all if that makes sense.

Your USB mic is not being recognized. Is it Mac-compatible? Does it require drivers?

Line in is the analog audio input port on your Mac. There's nothing plugged into it, ergo no sound.
