Hey I am trying to connect my External Mic to my MBP C2D 15.4 and when I do it doesn't work :(

I need to use this for Skype since the internal mic doesn't like to pic up my voice very well :(

I've tested the mic on my moms windows comp. and it works just fine...

Helllllpppppp!

Do you have a pre-amp on that mic? The MBP port is line-in, so anything feeding into it requires amplification. This is different from a mic-in, which is probably what your mother's PC has.

Ah, so what will I have to get to make this mic work? or what kind of mic will I have to get?

BTW, it's a cheap $30 Plantronics. I got it a while back...

Just to clarify, your mic does connect to the line-in port and not a USB port, correct?

I don't use an external mic, so I don't have any experience with this, but a lot of people recommend Griffin's iMic adapter.

Yes it does connect via line in.

And I will check that out. Does anyone know of a cheaper one?
