External monitor draining power?

How much power does an external 19' monitor drain from a 12' PB? I was wondering because when i try to view a video on Google video it is broken and distorted. But when i unplug the monitor from the computer the video runs just fine, better than on any other computer I have seen.

It doesn't have so much to do with power as the video card it's self. I've never heard of this on a Mac, but its a pretty common issue on PC notebooks.

What do you mean by distored, is it jumpy? Does it cut in and out? Are the colors messed up? How does it sound?

Google video uses flash, right?
