I have a 1920x1200 monitor hooked up to my MacBook Pro, and when I try to watch 1080p video (either in QuickTime or VLC), it is covered up by unwatchable flicker and a very slow framerate.

Also, the monitor flickers when I mouse through the options in a drop-down menu on my MacBook Pro's screen.

And before that, it would flicker just sitting there, but I swapped out the DVI cable for another one and now it only flickers when I do things.

Any ideas? My other monitor of the exact same model works perfectly fine (haven't tried 1080p on it) for all uses. I would like to eventually use both of them, so is there anything I can do?

Everything on my MacBook Pro is slow to animate, as well (Stacks and Dashboard openings lag while creating major flicker).

This problem is occurring with both of my 24" displays and both DVI cables.

I conclude that it is my 8600M GT finally failing after six months...

What is the procedure to get it taken care of? Does it have to be done at an Apple Store, or can it be taken to an Authorized Reseller?
