My dilemma is this, I can only purchase one right now, 22" Dell Monitor (only $297 at SamsClub) to use as an external monitor for my a MacBook I plan to purchase, or I can purchase a 32" Vizio LCD TV ($599 at Samsclub) and use it as my Tv and My External Monitor.

I will be doing some Final Cut Pro work on my MacBook, the Dell Monitor has a resolution of 1680 x 1050 and a contrast ratio of 800:1, the Vizio LCD TV has a resolution of 1366 x 768 and a contrast ratio of 1200:1.

I will either buy a MacBook Pro, or a MacBook (if the new version comes with GMA x3100), depends on the price and configurations they come with.

My main concern is the following: do I sacrafice the resolution for contrast ratio, or do I sacrafice contrast ratio for Resolution because I have no idea which one provides a crisper picture for video editing with FCP. I do kinda need a TV upgrade as well and that was the influencer for me to buy the 32" so I would get a new tv as well as an External Monitor.

Any information would greatly improve my knowledge, thus answering my questions.
Thanks
