I have a Mid 2012 RMBP (First Generation Retina).
I am looking to get a new external monitor to replace my existing 24 inch Samsung LCD Display.

I am looking at either
ASUS PB278Q (27 inch 2560x1440)
OR
Planar PXL2790MW (27 inch 2560x1440)
(not sure I can find this display)

My question is simple.
Will my Mid 2012 RMBP with is Nvidia 650M GPU be able to run this monitor?

My 2012 rMBP ran my 27" Thunderbolt screen just fine. What problem do you think there may be with the Asus or Planar monitors?

Why not get a Thunderbolt display and have a docking station for recharging your rMBP?

Thanks for the reply MCAsan.
Was just concerned that the GPU power required to run the Retina display and a high resolution external display may exceed the power provided by the inbuilt GPU.

I also read to run 2560x1440 you had to use either HDMI or Display Port. I know the RMBP has HDMI, but will the mini display port run the resolution.

I would love to get a Thunderbolt display however that is not in my budget to purchase.
ASUS - $569.00
Apple - $1200.00
