Hello - this is my first time posting on here, so please let me know if my issue has been addressed before and where/how I can find the recommended solution (if it exists).

I am setting my MacBook up with dual monitors (clamshell mode), one of which I want to set in portrait mode (for coding display). When I try to set the orientation in the System Preferences I don't see an option to rotate the screen. I tried researching for a resolution online, one thing I found, but could not make it work for me is to press and hold Command + Option while trying to access the setting. I've even reached out to Apple Customer Support. The response I've received from them, which matches their official online support page is that the monitor's hardware doesn't support the feature.

I would really prefer to have one of my screens set vertically as I also work/code off a PC running Windows 10, which I've been able to configure the display the way I want on the same monitor, so I don't know if it really is just a hardware or system limitation, or both.

My question: are their monitors that can support screen rotation with MacBook Pro or is there possible any secondary applications I can run on a MacBook that would allow me to achieve this setup? Thank you.

Hi

Short answer: it's possible for most external monitors.
Long answer: I have to look at how I configured mine and get back to you. It wasn't complicated, but can't access it right now. Probably in ~18hrs.
