So I recently bought a cheap-o 20" Magnavox LCD T.V. that I'm trying to use as an external monitor. It's connected to my Macbook Pro through a DVI-HDMI cable.
Here's the problem; when I originally set it up so that my external monitor was the main display, the screen was cut off (I couldn't see my dock or my top menu bar). Nevertheless, I turned off "overscan" and I finally found a resolution that allowed me to see everything. Only problem here, there is a 1/2" black border around the entire screen, regardless of what resolution I use. (The size of the black border changes according to resolution)
I'm doubly confused because when I boot into Windows XP on my Macbook Pro, via bootcamp, the screen automatically resizes to fill the entire monitor. Furthermore, the nVidia control panel allows me to resize manually if I so please.
Why would I be able to use a full-screen resolution in Windows (without the black border) but not in Snow Leopard?
Any ideas?
Thanks!
