I am trying to use my Mid 2011 13-inch MBA at work with my external monitor but it's not pumping out the resolution I was expecting. I have a 27 inch Dell monitor that has a native resolution of 2560 x 1440, same as the Apple Thunderbolt Display. I hooked it up using a Thunderbolt to DVI adapter and the most it will pump out is 1920 x 1080. While it's still usable it's not the monitors native resolution so everything looks fuzzy.

Is there any way for my MBA to pump out 2560 x 1440 or am I stuck at 1080p?

Which display do you have from Dell? I'm guessing it's the U2711, as that's the only one I found with the stated resolution.

If that's the case, your best bet is to purchase a mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable from a site like monoprice.

Less than $10 shipped and much better/cheaper than the MDP-DL-DVI adapter from Apple.
