Finally upgrading from my 1080p monitor now that my computer won't make any noise when plugging one in, but having trouble deciding between a 1440p and 4k monitor.

Besides the extra $400 bucks does it really make a huge difference if your eyes are 2ish feet away and it's already 117ppi? And does anyone know how much extra resources it uses for productivity when using 4k over 1440p? I can compare in some ways, I've seen FPS in YouTube videos when running games in 1440p and 4k on low, or even 1080p on those monitors, but does anyone know if it'd be much easier editing video with 1440p vs 4k? Or is even 1440p a big enough jump that I should still consider 1080p when editing video on an M1 MBA?

I have an inexpensive LG 24” 4K monitor. I also have an old Apple Thunderbolt 2560x1440 display. The difference to my (old) eyes is very noticeable. At 24” it isn’t quite up to Apple’s ideal of Retina but it is still much higher resolution than the 27” Thunderbolt Display.

BTW, the monitor is this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LPNKFK0
