A few months ago I purchased a BenQ GW2765HT to use with my Macbook Pro. I noticed a stark difference in the scaling between OS X Yosemite and Windows 7.

Windows 7 seems to handle scaling better on the monitor, meaning that everything isn’t tiny. However, what I see on the retina display with Windows 7 is extremely tiny because of the resolution. On OS X Yosemite, the scaling isn’t as nice as I thought it would be: everything is tiny.

I have attached photos to show what I am referring to. What is causing this and is there anyway to fix it?

What is you System Preferences->Display pane set to?

"Default for display." for both the retina display and the external. Choosing "Scaled" for the external monitor shows other the native resolution, 1080i and 720p.
