External Monitors to Laptop Mode Issue

I am operating on the newest OS (10.11.4), on a mid-2014 retina MBP.

At home I use two 27" Samsung monitors, with a handful of apps open and Safari / Chrome. Every time I disconnect the thunderbolt ports and open my rMBP my laptop crashes. Happens with every OS update, restarted, formatted HD, etc.

Anyone else experience this?
