External Monitors

I have an 22 inch external monitor, and I would like to make it my default monitor. But right now. all my icons are on the laptop. Is there away to keep them on the big screen? I will be leaving the lid open on my laptop when using it.

Go to System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement and drag the Menu Bar, represented by that white stripe on the top of the left or right blue box, to the other display.

Hook up an external keyboard and Magic Mouse and you can close the Macbook and set it aside for more desk space.
