External not working in Lion

Now this may not be a software problem. I just got a macbook air and wanted to transfer my music from my iomega TB portable eGo harddrive. When plugged in the "cd" with the stupid software I don't need pops up, but the hard drive icon doesn't. I think it is because it doesn't get enough power from only one input, but can't test this. It used to work with only one USB plugged in on my old 2008 MB and right now I am using another portable external (only 250gb though) plugged into one USB and it is working fine so it may be something else. Any help would be appreciated.
