Hey, I have a new mbp and a WD 500gb external, the smaller size ones. When i hook it up directly to the usb port on my comp it mounts, but if i try to use the logitech 4 port usb hub the comp doesnt find the external. Can anyone help me here??

Thanks

no, it just has one cable, that plugs directly into the usb port on my mbp

Do you have other devices connected to the hub? If so, that's the reason it's not working. A USB port provides a limited amount of power. Usually portable hard drives require all of a single ports power to operate, some even have a dual-head cable that uses 2-USB ports to provide the necessary power. If you need to use a hub, then you'll need to get a powered hub. A powered hub will have a power cable and plug into a wall outlet to provide a fixed amount of power to each of the ports on the hub. Your current hub is unpowered, thus it's taking the fixed amount of power from the one USB port on your MBP and dividing it up among as many as 4 devices.
