I have a Inateck 2 bay USB Type C External Hard Drive RAID Enclosure with one Samsung 500GB SSD and a Samsung 1 TB SSD. I am changing the 500GB for a second 1TB. Presently the unit is bus powered and I have no issues. There is a port for AC power which I never needed. How will I know if I need to supply external power to the drives. What are the signs that the unit is having problems with using USB power?

Either the drives will tend to "disappear" (dismount on their own)
or
Perhaps they won't even mount up at all.

This can be more of a problem with platter-based hard drives, which require more power than SSDs.

Since you're not having any problems now, I wouldn't worry about it.
