Hi,

I'm looking into getting an external RAID box for my 15" 2.4 Ghz MBP. I want one where I can choose between RAID 0 or RAID 1, so that leaves out some of the favorites here. I also want hardware RAID, not software. eSATA interface is also required. So, I started looking at the link below. Still not decided on a two-drive, or more, RAID system, so I'm looking at the whole offering.

http://www.cooldrives.com/sata-raid1.html

Questions:
1.) Anybody have experience with Cooldrives?

2.) Some of the enclosures they have listed in this link are described as "multipliers". Are these considered hardware RAID, or would it tax my CPU?

3.) Any recommendations on a good eSATA Expresscard?

Thanks!

New egg has express cards that would work on your MBP for $50 or less. I use one I got for $28 dollars on my lacie quadra. I haven't had any problems with the express card.
