Hey everyone, I just added a new stock 24inch iMac to the stable. The internal drive is not nearly big enough (320gb) for music & movies, so I was looking into external hard drives for that purpose.

I had mirrored raid 1 externals in mind, just so i dont have to keep burning dvds or cds every so often to not lose all that data. Anyone have any experience with the WD Studio II, or the OWC raid externals? Any other reliable / relatively quiet ones recommended?

Thanks

I'd recommend going onto newegg and finding a internal drive and an external case. It will be cheaper and the warranty will likely be 3x longer (3 years vs 1 year). Just find a good drive, note whether it is SATA or IDE and then find an external case that has that as an internal interface. You'd also want to consider how it connects to your computer so I'd recommend a firewire interface since it will be faster than USB.
