Anyone know if there are any stand-alone "retina" displays on the market? And would they be referred to as "retina" or would they be called something else? ie. What should I google to find one?

If Apple doesn't release a retina iMac maybe I'll get a Mac Mini and attache 2 or 3 third-party "retina" displays.

Apple has not defined what resolution on a 24", 27", or 30" monitor constitutes "Retina" display. All we know so far is what they consider Retina in a phone, tablet, and 15" MBP.

The Mac Mini has a Thunderbolt port with support for up to 2560-by-1600 resolution while the HDMI port does 1920-by-1200 The thunderbolt port supports many of the available 27" IPS panels such as Apple Thunderbolt Display or Dell 2711.
