Hello,

I recently had a hard drive failure on my external lacie hdd. I have been trying many things to get data off it but have since gave up.

Now I am trying to re-format it and use it again, but it will not format to the full capacity.

It is a 1TB samsung hdd. When I format it with my mac or windows it shows 33mb. I also tried using the xp install cd and formatted it at the install utility with no change either.

Any ideas on what is wrong here?

Thanks for the help!

There must be loads of bad sectors marked on that drive. It sounds like it's time for a new drive!
