External screen dim on fullscreen videos..

This seems quite a common theme but I can't find help for my specific problem.

When I hook my MBP pro up to my Sony TV and play a video full screen, the screen dims. In fact, if I take it out of full screen mode and move the window half way down the screen, it brightens up again, but if I move the window to the top, it dims.

It's really annoying and I've tried messing with display and power settings but no help yet.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Which OS are you using? If you're using Lion, I can't see why you'd care. There's nothing on the screen anyway in full screen mode.

I am having this same problem. This time, it's on crackle.com. When I enter full screen on my second monitor, the screen darkens considerably.
