I am looking for an external sound card that is compatible with OS X and my macbook pro, that has an optical audio output so that I can hook it up to my hifi. Does anyone know of such a sound card?
Firewire, express card, usb?

Your MBP should already have an optical audio output.
What exact Mac do you have?

You need a cable like this: http://www.google.co.uk/products/ca...TcD9Hof5sgaQx9GNCA&ved=0CGQQ8wIwAg#ps-sellers

To identify your Mac:

Why is that cable so hard to find? I went to all Audio places and none have them, yet my Mac and PC laptop supports S/PDIF which requires that cable, I ordered toslink 3.55 adapters, didn't know there was an actual cable!

I really need that cable so I can have 5.1 surround sound headset again for my MBP(I have Logitech G930 for PC which creates 7.1)

Stero ftl.

SyncFix - I'm looking for a surround headset for Mac gaming / VOIP. Did you get your G930 to do surround with your Mac? All I can find are reviews that say:

1. The surround on Windoze is fantastic.
2. The G930 only does stereo with Macs.

If you've found any surround headset setup that works with Macs I'd be really interested!
