We love our Macbook Pro except it's a bit bulky, and love to take it with us in the boat when we fish for catfish all night to watch DVDs on etc. Only problem is, the speakers really lack. We have a tough time hearing it even up on loud.

I found a little set of external speakers at Wal Mart that claimed 2 watts, they were not external powered but just plugged in to the speaker port.

They were useless, no louder than the existing built in speaker set, so I am taking them back today. However they had a more expensive set of the same brand that was 3 watt, and used a USB port for power.

My question is does anyone think the 1 watt difference will do what I need it to do? I like the USB port option better because I HATE messing with batteries (but if I have to I will).

You should get those altec lansing speakers from walmart for 29.99 they are loud for small/cheap speakers!
