Those of you who had the 3GS, and especially the 3G, and listened to podcasts or music with the external speaker, is the iPhone 4 speaker louder? Is it clearer?

What are your first impressions?

This is one of the things I really hope is improved.

Really? No one?

I sure hope its louder. I owned the 2g, 3g, 3gs, and tommorow the 4g. All of the phones had horriable speakers. Its really big issue.. at least for me. Every if not almost every other phone out there has a louder speaker. You have to use it with the windows up in your car and radio off to even hear it.

It's a LITTLE louder, but definitely not loud enough in a car traveling at speed, etc. This is still an area where Apple lags behind.

It's loud. Very loud.

At least mine is.

I put my girlfriend on speaker for a second and I had to turn it off because it was almost to loud.

I read in a review that is was louder but to tell you the truth, upgrading from a 3GS to the 4 it doesn't sound louder. And on top of that I think the ear piece is actually lower. I have it set 3 below from the highest setting for the ear piece and it sounds lower then the same position on my 3GS and on speakerphone with it at the highest setting it sounds the same.

I don't understand why they can't just put 2 speakers on the bottom:confused:
A true multimedia phone should be loud.

First thing I noticed was the improvement in the speaker. Now I can actually hear my voice notes when I play them back, without having to put on headphones.

Thank you :apple:

Thanks guys. I tend to put my iPhone on a podcast while I take a shower, and my 3G is JUST quiet enough that it's hard to hear. If this one is even just a little louder, it should help.

Wouldnt suggest this if it gets at all humid in the room.
I noticed mine is louder, but the quality reallly lacks. At 100% its just epicly terrible. Things just blend together and blare.

It's fine in my bathroom, and my moisture sensors are still in good shape.
