From a review online, "the iPhone 4’s external speaker weighed in at 90dB(A) compared to 78dB(A) on the new iPod touch."

As a comparison, what does my cousin's 2nd generation iPod Touch weigh in at?

I was wondering that as well. Are the 4G's speakers better than the 2G's / 3G's? They were alright for watching / listening to podcasts in a quiet room, but nothing more than that.

The new touch speakers are fantastic. There is the headphone jack/ speaker, and a speaker grille. They are awesome together. if you turn it on high, you can easily hear it in a loud room, try it in an apple store. And I assume the headphone jack/speaker is better solely compared to previous generations.
