I recently purchased a base 27" 2013 iMac with the 1TB HDD only. Is it possible to connect an external SSD via USB 3.0 and use it like a Fusion drive? Can I boot and run OS X off of it?
I already have a Samsung SSD, I just need some soft of enclosure. I found this one on Amazon:

Would I be able to do this? Is it possible? Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Yes you can do this, but do not use USB3. Get a Thunderbolt sled, works much better.
