I consider buying the Samsung 840 Pro 512GB SSD drive with a good enclosure and use it as an external primary boot drive on my late 2012 iMac, instead of my internal hd.
1. Will this work?
2. Can you recommend a good enclosure.
3. Are there enclosures with no need for power?

I would personally not spend that kind of money on something and not be able to use it to it's full potential. Only getting USB3 speed, if your imac supports it. I have read some people saying there is not a great deal of difference between the Fusion and SSD. I have the 840 Pro in my late 2009 but that's only because I had it already on hand. I do see a difference at sata2 but nothing like the sata 3 when I had it in my pc.
